There is a bug with the OS X version of Unreal Tournament 204 (I hear it may also be a problem with UT 2003), where the input device is extremely laggy. This problem is characterized by moving the mouse cursor around slows the game to a crawl. Not only is this extremely irritating in the game menus, but makes the game completely unplayable, dropping down frames per second to nearly zero when moving the mouse (i.e. all the time).

The solution to this problem is actually quite simple. If you have a USB control pad or joystick plugged in (in my case, it was a Gravis Game Pad Pro), try unplugging that device. When I did it, I instantly got the full speed of the game back.

I have also heard that simply pressing any button on the conflicting device will work as well (in case it is plugged in where the plug is hard to access), but I have not tested this theory.

Happy Fragging!

Arbitrary Quote - I finally came up with a punishment for the boy. First, no leaving the house, not even for school. Second, no egg nog. In fact, no nog period! And third, absolutely no stealing for three months!
