The Logitech Z-340 speaker system is a great package for home users trying to get a little better sound than normal 2 speaker systems. Decent Bass and good mid/high tones make this a solid set of speakers.

Set up:

Setup is VERY easy. Plug the satellites into the subwoofer, plug the mini jack into your computer, plug it into a wall out, and turn it on. You're ready to go in a few minutes.

Usage:

These speakers were bought to replace an aging set of cheap computer speakers (two speakers with no subwoofer). There is no comparison between the two. The Logitech Z-340s outperform the generic speakers in every way.

When you first turn these speakers on, you will notice how smooth the mid and high tones sound. These speakers are able to handle normal music and game sounds with ease. However, it would be nice if there was more surround sound, instead of just stereo. But a major positive for the satellite speakers is that they can nicely sit on your desk, or you can mount them on your wall.

The other main component of good sound is the Bass. The subwoofer that comes with this set of speakers is a revolutionary dual chamber design, which provides more bass than other subwoofers of its size. This marketing material is no joke either, the subwoofer does produce good Bass. It's got a separate dial on the back, so you can set your ratio of mid/high tones to bass however you like it. However, it's not quite enough Bass for me until it's very close to the highest setting.

Besides the Bass ratio control, everything else is controlled by the right satellite. A power button, a volume control, and a headphone jack are all on the front of that speaker. The lack of separate puck controller means less wires and less clutter to deal with.

Problems:

No problems were encountered while using these speakers.

Conclusion:

This is definitely a good set of speakers for the normal user. Priced at $50, it's an inexpensive way to get some good sounds coming out of your computer for digital music, game playing, or whatever else you may be into.
