When I recently bought my digital camera, I thought it would be a good idea to get a good lens cleaner to keep my pictures looking great. After a bit of searching, I came across the lens cleaning pen that sounded almost too good to be true. I just had to get one and try it out.

Usage:

Somehow, within the first week of operating my new digital camera, I got a fingerprint on the viewfinder, and some sort of smudge on the glass protecting the lens. Previous to purchasing the pens cleaning pen, I would have use the old "breathe on it and wipe it with my shirt" method. But that never works fully, and has the potential to scratch the glass.

Instead, I pulled the lens cleaning pen from my camera bag, and went to work. I quickly extended the soft bristle side of the pen, and wiped away any dust and big dirt particles. That took all of 5 seconds. After retracting the bristles, I turned the pen around, and pulled off the cap to reveal the magic behind this pen. Now starring at me was a small circular pad on a rubberized neck (helps keep the pad in good contact with the glass). On the pad is some sort of carbon compound that does the cleaning.

I took a deep breath and thought to myself "I really hope this doesn't scratch the glass". Once I had enough courage gathered, I pressed the cleaning pad against the lens, and started moving it all around. To my astonishment, this thing was working, and fast! 15 seconds later, the glass was crystal clear. No more smudges, no streaking, no scratches, just a perfectly clean lens.

With a clean lens, and a smile on my face, I replaced the cap over the cleaning pad, gave it a little twist to recharge the pad with more carbon compound, and tossed it back into the camera bag, ready for the next use. In doing this final action, it became apparent what two of the biggest advantages this thing has over other cleaning products (besides working spectacularly). The first is being lightweight. It's so light, you would never feel a difference having or not having it in your bag. The other is convenience. Many cleaning products require a separate solution, or maybe the cloth needs to be kept in a plastic bag. With this pen, you never have to worry about running late because you had to pack away your cleaning kit.

Problems:

None

Conclusion:

This is hands down the best lens cleaning product I have come across. It gets the job done in no-time, without leaving any kind of smearing or residue, and just as quickly is thrown back into the camera bag. Anyone who owns a camera, binoculars, a scope, or any other small glass they wish to see clearly through should have at least one of these pens.

Arbitrary Quote - I finally came up with a punishment for the boy. First, no leaving the house, not even for school. Second, no egg nog. In fact, no nog period! And third, absolutely no stealing for three months!
