This program is wonderful for people who need more info on who visits their web site or server, and what they are doing. With it, you can do pings, traceroutes, whois look ups, monitor network throughput and more. By using these tools, you can easliy see what security measures you may need, or if your server is running slow for some reason. Or you can just use it to be geeky like me :)

Many people suffer from this: I'm not an artist, but I want to make my website look nice. Well, if you are one of those people, try this program out. Just pick the colors, the repetition, font characteristics, etc, and you have a button. You can bevel it, along with many other artistic features. The main problem I had was the limit of only two colors, and no way to import gracphics.

Amp Radio 1.6.7

Amp Radio is a great idea. It allows you to listen to Internet radio stations by just selecting which type of music you like, and what station you want. It also allows you to play MP3's on your hard drive, and even brodcast them out as an internet radio station. But, this great idea doesn't work too well. When listening to songs, the thing is constantly rebuffering, making it impossible to really listen. If they ever get this fixed, it will be a great peice of software.

Macster PR4

Macster is the Mac client of the popular Napster program. Macster allows you to search through thousands of people's computers for MP3's. With it's simple and elegant interface, you can quickly search by artist name or song name, and pick out offa list of up to 100 which song you want to download. If you like MP3's, then you need this program. Caution: Most files listed there are Pirated. Download at your own risk

CalCountNote 1.6
System Requirements: Mac OS 7.1 or later, color monitor	Price: $15
CalCountNote is a Calendar, Countdown timer, and Note Pad all in one. It's very simple to use, and has a familiar user interface. But, I don't know if this program is really worth $15. You can get clendar tools for free, countdown timers for free, and a note pad comes with the Mac OS. But, I guess if you want all three of these in one place, go for it.

iWrite 1.1

iWrite is a word processor unlike any other. This word processor has infinite shortcuts and quick forms, custom styles and exports, SMTP email capabilities, a project manager, plus more. Also, this interesting application will learn how you write, learn your most used words/phrases, and what applications you use certain text it. It's a new word processor with attitude.

iUnit 1.0
System Requirements: Any Mac, System 7.0 or later	Price: $20
iUnit is a conversion tool that converts between hundreds of different units. Ranging from Acceleration to Mass to Velocity, iUnit will covert a total of 216 units. The user interface may not be the best, but the conversions are very quick and accurate. If you are someone who does alot of converting, this program could become a lifsaver. Now if they would only lower the price a bit...

Freeinet 2.0
System Requirements: PowerMac, OS 8.1 or later	Price: $0
Freeinet is one of the leaders in free Internet access. Like most free access providers, Freeinet has you install this little ad bar to "pay" for the service. But, Freeinet's bar seems to be smaller, faster loading, and is less obstructive than most ad bars. The bar was very stable (much more than previous versions), and didn't cause any connection problems. A small price to pay for internet access.

Folder Compare 2.0 System Requirements: PowerMac Price: $15 Folder Compare is a complete replacement for Apple's buggy Folder Syncronizer. Folder Compare will not only automatically compare folders, and make sure thedy contain the same files, but it also lets you have full control of what's going on. If you don't want a file somewhere, just use Folder Compare to customise what you want to go where. Plus, this application has drag and drop, AppleScript, and Carbon support.

English-German Dictionary 2.1
System Requirements: MAc or PowerMac	Price: $25
The English-German Dictionary does what is sounds like. It will translate words from English to German, or from German to English. While it has the ability to speak the text, reas text, show irregular verbs and conjunctions, it won't do phrases. Many times, a phrase will change the meaning of a word, or change the translated word altogether. I just can't see how you can make a German-English Dictionary, that won't translate phrases.

WordPerfect 3.5e

WordPerfect was released as a free product by Corel. This full featured word processor has everything you are looking for, and then some. It's most valuable assets have to be the great spelling and grammar checkers. But, it does have it's problems. First, it doesn't play well with Speed Doubler. It also has very obscure prefrences dialogs. Finally, it has been very crash prone, especially when accessing the font menu. A great word processor, that needs some improvements.

GoMac will bring to your Mac one of the best features of Windows, the Start menu. With GoMac installed, you will have a task bar on the bottom of your screen, the ability to command click through Applications, and even use control strip modules though it. This application will allow you to always see what applications are running, so you always know where your memory has gone. The only thing wrong with this program is the stability it takes away, and some programs aren't fully compatible with it.

iMovie 1.0.2

iMovie is Apple's beginner level movie making program that up until now, has only been available to iMac DV users. It includes such things as sound tracks, movie tracks, transistions, sound clips, titles, and more. But, to be able to work with moives, you NEED a digital video camera to import the movies from. You cannot import a quicktime movie directly. That makes it really hard for those of us without a DV camera to make movies from clips of other movies. Other than that, a great program, that is made even greater by making it free.

Morphile 1.6

Morphile is a utility for converting text and changeing Type/Creator codes. There are many products out there that will change Type/Creator codes, but Morphile has a slick interface and many options. You can change the codes by typing them in, clicking a "same as..." button to make the codes the same as another file, or selecting from a small list of preset applications. Not to mention the favorites feature which let's you set a list of favorites for later use. Plus, if you made a mistake, you can fix it with the click of a button. A lot of features for such a small program.

Corel Draw 8 LE
System Requirements: PowerMac, OS 8.1 and up, 32MB RAM	Price: $0
If you have a fast connection (for a 50 MB download), then this program is definately worth it. Corel Draw 8 LE is a crippled version of a marvelous drawing/image editing program. It may not have quite as many features as it's big brother, but if you don't need a big time program, this is for you. Everything you ever wanted to do with images can be done with this free program.
