Read a short story I wrote detailing My Last Time With Paul.
Please visit the Memorial of Paul site to learn more about Paul.

Paul was my younger brother. He was a very happy kid, who always wanted to make others happy as well. He was never grounded, didn't lose TV or computer privileges, and had the responsibility of carrying my mom's debit card with him. In essence, he was a perfect son to my parents, and a perfect brother to me. I miss him deeply every second of every day.

He took his own life on Thursday, July 21st, 2005. This event was completely out of the blue. The night before, he was planning for well in the future: talking car repair, carpooling with his friend to college, and even throwing a New Year's Eve party. In fact, only minutes before it happened, he text messaged a very good friend of his to tell her he was going to work, and would call her when he got back. Shortly after, something happened which changed his mind dramatically, and he ended his life.

Obviously this left the family with many many questions, some of which will never be answered. The best theory that has been devised is the anti-depressant medicine he had been on for a year (due to hereditary depression), somehow reacted with either the pain killers from a gall bladder surgery (only two weeks before the suicide), or with the traumatic experience of the surgery itself. This combination likely caused an extremely low sensation, which caused him to go into a state of mind where he had no control over his actions. In fact, he was likely a walking zombie, as he could not even think because his conscious mind was completely taken over by the subconscious. This does bring comfort to me and the rest of the family, but does scare me that a drug which is supposed to help you, can turn on you in such a dramatic fashion.

This webpage is only one of the many ways we will be continuing his memory. He will never be there physically for any future happenings, but he will certainly be a big part of my heart and mind. Keep an eye on this page for more information about Paul, and more pictures as I get them.

Arbitrary Quote - I finally came up with a punishment for the boy. First, no leaving the house, not even for school. Second, no egg nog. In fact, no nog period! And third, absolutely no stealing for three months!
