On May first, 2001 Apple introduced the revamped iBook (A.K.A. Dual USB). At that time, I just knew I had to have one. I held out 23 days before finally placing my order at the Apple Educational Store. Ordering it early in the morning, I was surprised to find out it was already being assembled only 6 hours afterwards. Then started the wait.
I waited 15 long days for this baby to arrive. Not a day went by that I didn't think about it at least 10 times. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this iBook. Not only was it my dream machine since the first revision, but now it included the revolutionary Mac OS X preinstalled, ready for me to play around with.
On June 11, of 2001 at about 11:00 CST, my iBook came. I was working that day, so I didn't get to see it come, but when I got home, I couldn't wait to start playing with it. That night, I tried out all of the software, battery life, Mac OS X, and everything else that I could. It almost never left my side the first three days of having it. Unimatrix Zero is born!

To go along with it, I ordered an extra 128 MB of RAM (delivered early the next morning), bought a Ethernet Hub, and a 25 foot Ethernet cable for some portability within the house. For carrying purposes, I had a very nice bag from Kensington, which was free, and I put CD-Rs, system disks, a mouse and mouse pad, ethernet cable, AC Adapter and much more inside of it. Now, I'm ready to be a Road Warrior.
It quickly became not a main machine, but a main OS X, portable, and AIM machine. Other tasks are delegated between it and my G3 for the ultimate in productivity. Most of the time, it sits near me while I'm on my G3, but at other times, I just want to "get away", and use it from the couch while watching TV. What a great way to surf the net!
As time passed, I realized I needed a little more roaming capabilities. So I bought an AirPort Card and a SMC Wireless Router to surf the web without wires. Let me tell you, this is great. I can go where ever I want in my house, and even in my yard, and still have fast internet access. Thank you Apple for bringing such a great technology to the masses.

Arbitrary Quote - I finally came up with a punishment for the boy. First, no leaving the house, not even for school. Second, no egg nog. In fact, no nog period! And third, absolutely no stealing for three months!
