Giantmike.com http://www.giantmike.com/ Giantmike's website news en-us http://www.giantmike.com/favicon.png http://www.giantmike.com/ New Interesting Link: Tasko http://www.giantmike.com/ A while ago, I added an application named TaskPaper to my Shareware Picks. It's a nice little application that I have been getting even more use out of lately, but it does have some limitations. One of them being what to do when you're not at your Mac (or it's not with you). A great solution to this is the newest Interesting Link, Tasko, an online version of TaskPaper. With Tasko, you can update and access your to-dos from anywhere you have an internet connection (mixing this with an iPhone would be cool). Plus, it has a funny name :) Wed, 07 May 2008 19:00:00 -0600 Updated Maintidget Released http://www.giantmike.com/ I have been receiving a lot of emails from people who have been having a hard time running the maintenance scripts via Maintidget. I took some time over the past few days, and re-wrote the authentication logic, so those people incorrectly seeing "password failed" when it was in fact correct, should no longer see that message. Also, there are many people out there who like to run their administrator accounts without a password. Although in version 1.2 I made a change to support this, it seems this wasn't working for a good number of users. The new logic in version 1.4 should hopefully clear that up as well (I did test it with a dummy account, and it works fine for me). So, without further ado, head over to the Maintidget page to grab version 1.4. Tue, 29 Apr 2008 09:00:00 -0600 Review of a new battery for the MacBook Pro http://www.giantmike.com/ I had been using a dying battery in my MacBook Pro for about 6 months. It had developed the dreaded "shut off at random percentages" syndromes that my previous battery also had. It was so bad, I now could barely trust my computer to stay on for 5 minutes when the power was removed. Not wanting to repeat the process again with another Apple battery (and the crappy 90 day warranty), I searched around until I found FastMac. Their line of batteries looked promising, so I ordered one. After a very long fulfilling/shipping process (about 2.5 weeks from order to delivery), I had a new battery to test out. I have been happily using it for a while, and have now posted a review of this battery. See what I think about the TruePower Battery for 15.4" MacBook Pro. Sat, 19 Apr 2008 08:15:00 -0600 New Interesting Link, Shareware Pick, and iFruits http://www.giantmike.com/ Once again, being busy with things like wedding planning are distracting me from the website. I have been trying to keep some things updated in the background, but nothing major has come up until today. First, for Canon digital camera owners out there, the newest Interesting Link shows you how you can enable some really cool features built into your camera. It's a completely/easily reversible procedure, so definitely give it a shot to see if your camera has some hidden abilities. For everyone else, I have posted a new Shareware Pick to replace another shareware pick. If you like RSS feeds, you need to check out this application (which recently became available for free). Finally, for anybody who needs a few laughs, I have posted a couple iFruit comics: #213 and 214. Tue, 08 Apr 2008 18:30:00 -0600 I'm finally running Leopard http://www.giantmike.com/ For my birthday, Alicia got me a copy of Leopard, which is the first OS X update I didn't install as soon as it came out...
